Frequently Asked Questions

    What is Sonify Music today?
Sonify Music is the global reference for commercial music: the world's #1 platform for music buyout — the permanent transfer of full rights over a track — alongside a Business Music subscription for venues (hotels, restaurants, retail, spa, fitness). Two paths: license the music or own it forever.
License or Buyout — which one do I need?
Choose the Subscription if you play music continuously in a physical venue and need PRO-safe coverage (SIAE, SACEM, GEMA, ASCAP/BMI, PRS, SGAE and equivalents). Choose Buyout when you want to own the track outright — for a film, series, ad campaign, video game, brand identity, YouTube/Meta monetization or any work you plan to distribute or resell. Full comparison on our License vs Ownership page.
What exactly do I get with a Sonify Buyout?
A full assignment of the economic rights over the track: worldwide, in perpetuity, all media, all uses. You receive high-resolution WAV + MP3 files, the signed Rights Assignment Agreement, a Purchase Certificate with a unique ID and verifiable QR code, and the track is permanently removed from our public catalog so no one else can license it after you.
How is a Sonify Buyout different from "exclusive" or "royalty-free" elsewhere?
Royalty-free is still a license: you rent the right to use, the author keeps ownership, and the same track is sold to thousands of others. A Sonify Buyout is a written transfer of rights, governed by our Rights Assignment Agreement v1.0 (English is the sole authoritative version, per Article 1), backed by a publicly verifiable certificate, and the track is pulled from the catalog the moment the transfer completes. You become the legal owner — not one licensee among many.
Does the Subscription certificate cover me with PROs (SIAE, SACEM, GEMA, ASCAP/BMI, PRS, SGAE, SUISA, BUMA/STEMRA…)?
Yes. The Sonify catalog is licensed to you directly by the rights holders — no PRO applies on our tracks. In case of inspection, you show the License Certificate downloadable from your account: it names the venue, the licensing period, and links to the public verification URL where any inspector can confirm it in real time. Covered organizations include SIAE and SCF (Italy), SACEM (France), GEMA (Germany), ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, GMR (USA), PRS and PPL (UK), SGAE (Spain), SUISA (Switzerland), BUMA/STEMRA (Netherlands), and the equivalents worldwide.
Where and how can I use Buyout music?
Anywhere, on any medium, forever: films, series, advertising, video games, apps, podcasts, YouTube and Meta monetization, sync deals, brand identity, live events, and the resale of finished works that include the track. The only limit set by the Rights Assignment Agreement is that you cannot re-license the raw track as if it were your own stock catalog to third parties for their own licensing programs.
How does anyone verify that a Buyout certificate is genuine?
Every Purchase Certificate carries a unique ID and a QR code that resolves to a public verification page on sonifymusic.net. Broadcasters, YouTube/Meta rights teams, notaries, or any counterparty can scan the QR — or open the URL directly — and see, in real time, who owns the track, the effective date of the transfer, and the contract version. Ownership is auditable without needing to contact us.
How does multi-venue coverage work on the Subscription?
1 license = 1 venue = 1 simultaneous stream, regardless of square meters or capacity. For chains or multi-site operators, add one license per venue: your certificate will list every licensed address so a single document covers the whole group at inspection.
What happens after I buy — delivery, invoicing, refunds?
Delivery is instant and 100% digital: subscription customers get immediate catalog access plus the License Certificate; buyout customers receive the WAV + MP3 files, the Rights Assignment Agreement and the Purchase Certificate the moment payment clears. Invoicing follows the billing profile you registered on your account. Subscriptions are covered by our standard refund policy; buyouts are final once the certificate has been issued, because the assignment of rights is irrevocable — the track has already been withdrawn from the catalog.
