Content ID Clearance
Content ID clearance is the process of ensuring that music in a video will not trigger an automated copyright claim on YouTube or an equivalent fingerprinting system. It matters because these systems match audio fingerprints, not licences: a track you are entitled to use can still be claimed if its fingerprint is registered by a rights holder.
In practice
Library tracks are frequently registered in Content ID by the library itself or by a distributor, which means paying customers receive claims on their own videos and must file a release, one video at a time, with a reference number. Revenue is withheld while the dispute is pending, which for a launch video is the window that matters. Whitelisting a channel helps only for future uploads on that channel and does not cover a client's channel or a paid media placement.
How SoniBuyout® handles it
Sonify tracks are not registered in Content ID or with any collecting society, and on purchase the track is removed from the catalogue entirely. There is no fingerprint claiming against you, and as the owner you are the party entitled to act if someone else uses the track.
Real questions
Why is my licensed music getting a Content ID claim?
Because the fingerprint is registered by the library or its distributor. The licence proves you may use the track, but the automated system claims first and asks later; you must submit the release the library provides.
Does whitelisting solve Content ID claims permanently?
Only for the specific channel whitelisted, and usually only for uploads made afterwards. Client channels, agency channels and re-uploads each need their own handling.
